Gisborne District Council Regional Host Strategy
The Gisborne Chamber of Commerce has been part of the Regional Host Steering Group responsible for the development of the Regional Host Strategy. We are now in a position to canvas your views on the draft Regional Host Strategy for the Gisborne and East Coast district.
The Host Strategy has been developed in response to the need to address issues and concerns relating to the growth and development of events and hosting activities in the region and provides a framework and long term plan to:
- attract desirable and quality events and activities to our region,
- maximise the legacy value of events in the region,
- ensure that the diverse and bi-cultural nature of our people and community is embraced and celebrated,
- support the delivery of excellent quality services and facilities for residents and visitors to the region,
- support the management and delivery of all events and activities in an environmentally and economically sustainable way,
- work in partnership with the region’s tangata whenua, and
- continue to support the successful delivery of Gisborne’s existing iconic events.
