b-heard with Gisborne Chamber of Commerce
A key purpose of the Chamber of Commerce is to provide the best commercial environment in which you can achieve your business goals. We do this by giving business a "voice". The Chamber will influence (on your behalf) the rules and regulations that local councils and central government impose on business in order to minimise compliance costs and optimise your business performance. We will be your advocate when you need us and can assist you in overcoming obstacles.
The main drivers of the b-heard committee are Simon Cave and Clare Radomske - their contribution on behalf of business is noteworthy. Services include: Lobbying, Advocacy, representation to local and central government, and economic reporting to business. I do not think Clare Radomske has missed many Council meetings of importance in the last 12 months, and Simon tirelesly presents the Chamber's view to central government whenever needed. Two very busy Chamber Members !!
Below is a foundation document - the Greg Dwyer Report. The Chamber contracted Greg Dwyer in 2006 to do an Independent Review on "The Business of Councils" - in particular the Gisborne District Council.
Even today we continue to refer back to this document and are in discussion with Council on it's content and the implications and application of different points contained within the document. It is as pertinent today as it was in 2007 Well worth reading!!!
