Mayor and Mayoress Takaaki Awa's visit
 from Nonoichi -
Our Sister-City in Japan

Our President, Fraser picked up the Mayor and Mayoress after breakfast
on Tuesday 17th and took them on a tour of our city.

First stop was Tairawhiti Polytechnic to check out Toihokura, where the artists/students
can be seen creating beautiful works of Maori Art.

Next Stop was the Fashipn Design studio and retail outlet of Sheryl May followed by lunch at The Launchpad

Brian Shanks at Bulmer Harvest gave them a tour of the Cidery and presented them with some special
Gisborne products to take home.......and then off to Findlay's Bakery for an escorted tour around their factory.

A busy schedule but an enjoyable day for all.  Our thanks Fraser for his enthusiasm, and thanks also to the Japanese interpreter who made interaction and conversation possible. We hope the Mayor and Mayoress  will take home good memories of our business sector;and the business-people who gave so willingly of their time and premises.

Business Profile for the month of August

This Month we are profiling Anne Pardoe's business.
Property Centre situated in the Ballance Street Village adjacent to Pharmacy 53 and across the road from the Dairy.

Anne was orginally a school Teacher - Transition teacher for Gisborne Girls High School.  In the late 1980's she decided to change profession and joined the ranks of Real Estate Agents at Ball and Crawshaw.  Definitely a fast learner, it wasn't long before she was making sales and in fact was one of the "top sellers" in the city for a number of years.

With a partner, she bought the Harcourts franchise;  later selling it and moving to Ballance Street to operate an independant boutique Agency with the freedom to make decisions and thus respond swiftly to market conditions.

Being independent also gave her a closer involvement in the community.
In 2003 Anne was asked to chair the Chamber of Commerce after it had been in recess for a number of years.  In usual Anne fashion she put her energy and enthusiasm to good use and built up the number of businesses needed for the organisation to operate effectively.  She approached Gisborne's larger business operations and asked for contributions to build a strong financial base for the Chamber, and then worked with the Executive to reinstall the Chamber ethos of working with business for the benefit of the region.

During her time with the Chamber, Property Centre became a family affair with Penny gaining her licence and taking on some of the management roles.   Under Anne's tutelege, Penny, Vicky Coley and Judy Milner are ready to work for you and with you to sell or buy property.   Give them a ring on  8684443

ps.  She's on the move again -

Ann and Lance Pardoe's home in Domett Street is for sale -- It could be just what you are looking for.   http://www.thepropertycentre.co.nz/listings.htm  It's the first listing on the page.
