Belinda Mackay

Belinda Mackay

PRESIDENT

Belinda has been a member of the Chamber Board for 4 years and was just recently nominated as President.  She is the owner of dnature diagnostics & research with her husband John and also a board member for Sport Gisborne Tairawhiti.

Belinda enjoys interacting with other business owners as well as advocating for business at a local level.  When asked to join the board, at the time, there was a lack of female perspective at a board level – now we have 3 female board members.

Belinda's legacy for the board would be to make sure that the voice of business is heard by local government and funding bodies in our region.

Born and bred in Gisborne Tairawhiti, Lena has an innate passion for the region and prides herself on being a people connector, supporting our local network to flourish.

Jeremy Muir

Jeremy Muir

EXECUTIVE BOARD MEMBER

Jeremy Muir is editor and a director of The Gisborne Herald and The Wairoa Star. He is a sixth-generation New Zealand newspaperman, fifth generation in Gisborne where an ancestor bought a 50 percent stake in the then Poverty Bay Herald in 1884.

Jeremy joined the chamber executive about 15 years ago, initially to build his knowledge of the Tairawhiti business community and to see what he could do on the chamber and at The Herald to support economic growth in the region.

He most enjoys being involved in successful advocacy - a highlight was helping to convince the council to support a standalone economic development agency for Tairawhiti.

Peter Nikolov

Peter Nikolov

EXECUTIVE BOARD MEMBER

Peter has recently moved from his role as Manager of Proppy Real Estate to Senior Strategic Land Supply Manager for Kainga Ora

Peter joined the Gisborne Chamber of Commerce in 2019 and was elected on the Board in 2020.

As an executive committee member of Gisborne Chamber of Commerce and Board Member of Gisborne Rotary, Peter has the unique perspective to follow current developments and challenges faced by local and national government departments as well as private businesses and enterprises especially across the East Coast and the Central North Island.

Diane Taylor

Diane Taylor

EXECUTIVE BOARD MEMBER

Diane Taylor has served on the Gisborne Chamber of Commerce board since 2018.  She finds the role interesting and enjoys working collectively with other likeminded business members and stakeholders on a range of various issues and projects.

Diane first moved to Gisborne in 2007 and has since settled right into a more relaxed work lifestyle balance.  She is the Business Manager and a joint owner of Survey Gisborne Limited with her husband and business partner Kevin Taylor.  Their team of professional land surveyors specialise in a wide range of surveying projects including land development, subdivisions, boundary redefinitions, building setouts and Maori land surveys.

Currently, there are quite a number of major projects underway, and in the pipeline.  This is both exciting and challenging for both new and established business owners in the region.  There is considerable pressure with finding qualified staff as well as suitable housing.  Diane continues to advocate for more new housing and infrastructure to accommodate our growing and developing city.  Diane Taylor is also a member of the Business and Professional Women’s group.

Nikki sees herself as a pollinator, she loves meeting people and putting them in touch with others to help them grow and develop relationships and ideas; her networking circles reach far and wide.

Nikki joined the Chamber Executive Board for the opportunity to connect with and learn more about local business owners, to hear and support them on their journey; to help promote interest in local issues and to ensure that the Chamber continues to be mission driven in focusing on the future and encouraging innovation to help create a sustainable environment for local businesses to prosper.
